I am considering the purchase of Tiara Open, 2900-3600 and would like to know from others that have purchased similar what their top 3-5 criterial would be based on their post purchase experience. This will be my first boat purchase.
I will be purchasing used and would like to be able to use the boat for a few years without putting a lot of money into it.
Will the yacht survey always or most of the time cover any immediate costly work?
I am in SW Florida, so having a reliable generator and AC would be important.
The best advice I ever got in buying a boat (first or fifth) is first answer one critical question…”How do you intend to use the boat?” Get with the family and make a list of things people will want to do/have. Then, go find the boat that meets those needs. It’s really only a question you can answer.
"I will be purchasing used and would like to be able to use the boat for a few years without putting a lot of money into it."
I dont want to be a negative nancy but, There is no such boat. Figure putting 10% of overall value into it yearly. Even with a good survey there are things that just stop working. Pumps are the #1 thing that just stop working and these boats have numerous pumps. (X2 Fresh water, raw water, live well, x3 bilge) switches give out, impellers have to be changed yearly, bottom paint every few years at least, especially here in FL.
The next $$$ category is the toys and extras you will buy.
As said above, make a list of how you are going to use it and what the family's expectations will be. (Good sleeper, head, shower, storage,,,,) That will narrow down the search really quick.
