A couple of months ago I had a water sensor in the racor that went bad and was replaced. the leak seemingly was coming from there. Any advice on why that loosened to cause a leak?? Better yet, how can I be sure it won't happen again? I did not do the work and am no mechanic. 32 Open Cummins
If there is one thing I have learned, everything on a boat is broken. You just don't know it yet.
How old is the boat? I have never had an issue with a racor before. Could it have been damaged while changing a filter? Maybe someone accidentally bumped it while working in the bilge?
so what happened was the water in fuel sensor went bad so I had that changed and both racors changed at the same time. After that, unfortunately I did not have any idea because I wasn't at the boat for a while it was several months later that we found out the diesel in the bilge problem. Now, we did have some really cold weather (for Orange Beach) where temps got in low 20's one night but heat was on in cabin and boat is in the water. I don't know what cold weather could do to a fuel system if any? I've cleaned bilge thoroughly and let boat sit for 2-3 weeks and now there is another very small sheen on bilge water? she is a 2008 and very well kept so I wouldn't think fuel tank (hopefully).
