Painting window frames
#1
We have a 1981 3100 Hardtop, and the black (aluminum?) frames around the windows on deck (windshield and side windows) have a black paint that bleed black every time a wet wash rag is applied. We would like to repaint. Any advice on brand/type of paint  to renew these frames? Any help would be appreciated.

I used regular old Rustoleum on the aluminum frames of our last boat and I was pleasantly surprised how well it held up.

One thought that comes to mind is to contact Jamestown Distributors....they have some experienced staff and a support group that could provide assistance...

Here is what worked for us

We cleaned it up good ,used zinc chromate primer on bare metal .
We covered that with PPG epoxy primer and top coated with PPG ESS single stage polyurethane enamel.
this is our 7th year and it is holding beautifully, however we are in pond water, not salt.
Atlantic Towers painted the hardtop with a awlgrip product that is holding beautifully from the same time as the PPG
