Hi everyone,
Suddenly my starboard, (House), alternator has begun to put out 15 volts+ when I advance the throttles on my 8.1 Crusaders.
Pulling back to about 1000 rpm it puts out 13.5 volts.
Question: is my alternator on the way out or is there a voltage regulator internal to the alternator that is failing?
Boat is a 2006 3200 Open with 8.1 Crusaders.
Thanks for your help and any troubleshooting tips you may have.

Does your setup have external regulators? They are usually mounted on the wall in the engine room.
What make is your alternator?

The alternators are Balmar 100 amp, I could not find a remote regulator any where in the eng room.
Balmar makes an excellent unit. Mine are setup with Charles Ind regulators. Give Balmar a call 360.435.6100, they have a great tech support group and will walk you thru trouble shooting it.
