My brother just bought a 2010 Tiara 36 Open. The shower sump is under the salon step and cannot be reached without removing the entire fiberglass steps. To do this the battery charger must be removed from the fiberglass step wall and numerous wire ties and screws. I cannot believe they would design and place a recurring maintenance item in such a bad location.
Has anyone altered the steps to make it more accessible? Or moved the sump box?

My 2000 3500 also has the shower sump under the stairs but my charger is NOT located there so removal of the stairs has become much easier over the years. I have always thought of putting a hinge at the top and some gas shocks to hinge the steps up but haven't done that as of yet. Not sure there is enough structure at the top of the stairs to support the weight.
