Bought a 2000 M4 for the beginning of last season, moving from a 1976 35 Bertram.  We boat in Lake Erie, and hope to extend range with a more comfortable boat.

So far have updated electronics, fixed the hydraulics, upgraded the techometers, and serviced the engines.  This winter in the yard for bottom paint, new batteries, find the leak in the swim platform, and see if the moisture in foredeck core is coming from windshield or the head hatch.

I have a new to me 1996 4000 mid-cabin and going through he same type of upgrades/repairs. Currently working through issues with the hydraulic system, any lessons learned of pointers on what you went through on the hydraulics would be great.

The main problem with the hydraulics on my boat was that someone had messed with the wiring, and a bundle of connections was lying in the bilge. An electrician restored all the wiring to factory schematic and secured wiring in a dry position, and everything has worked fine since. We were very puzzled that someone has felt the need to add what seemed to be "free-wheeling" diodes on the solenoids. We cleaned these out and changed the fluid, and what seemed to be sticky solenoids went away.... the wiring seemed to be the whole issue.

Do you have the factory schematics? I'm in certain need in order to fix my system. Any help is appreciated.
