Low production quantities always result in higher unit cost. Especially in the plastics industries. Consider for example, whether you pump out 5,000 units or 500,000 units out of a given mold that mold is going to cost the same. Shipping of small loads is also relatively more expensive than shipping large loads.
Then there’s the quality thing. These badges are exposed to UV all day long. And UV is a killer for most plastics!
So, small production runs, relatively expensive shipping and high quality requirements mean the product can’t be cheap.
If you’d like a cheap alternative you could look into 3D “gel” labels. Even those, due to setup costs will cost about the same. Order a 100, keep 10 for yourself and flog the rest on eBay. You might even turn a profit. Welcome to market economy
