i had a similar situation on a teak pulpit inlay but never on flooring. Sanded down the varnish and used a teak bleach cleaner to get it blond again, then put on some new varnish. I had to use a belt sander to get the wet layer off but it was all worth it in the end. If you do sand down to bare wood it will end up lighter for a couple of seasons.
