Joined the Tiara family with a 2013 Sovran 39 last week. Question is on the electric panel there is a switch for “waste pump out”. Is this to be used for pumping out thru deck fitting or when dumping off shore which we don’t do in the Great Lakes. Appreciate this site so much as we learn a new boat.

The only time the "waste Pump out" switch is used is when dumping off shore and the through the hull waste valve is open (at least that's the way my 38 Open is configured). When pumping out through the deck pump fitting out you need to ensure the 3 way valve (not sure where it is on the 39) is valved to deck pump out.... When pumping out using the deck pump out at a marine waste dumping facility a vacuum pump will suck out the sewerage.. M2C
