Hi, new member here hoping to get some advice from actual owners. I am looking at a 1995 29 open. Spoke with the seller and I was told on a previous survey moisture was found on both hull sides and deck . Should I run away? or hire my own surveyor and see just how bad it is? Also any other problem areas i should look for shopping around. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I own a 1999 -2900 open. I'm surprised to hear that the side hull has any water. I suggest seeing if you can read the old survey. Keep in mind all boat have some type of water intrusion, just how much is what matters. If you cannot get old survey, maybe purchase a meter before you hire inspector.
I'd look at transom and strings where engine mounts. By the way, engine compartment is extremely tight and this can drive up repair cost (might need a hard helmet-lol) above the deck steps starboard side can sometimes get water in from the horn. If there an inspection hatch open it up.
The overall boat is a beast ( great lakes for me) but can take some spray over bow. If you have any specific question let me know - good luck
Thank you for your response. After speaking with the seller and what he told me just over the phone , I passed on even going to look at it. The search will continue.
