Have a 1998 Tiara 40 Express. Waste tank is located under the floor in the aft guest bedroom which has seperate pedastels for the bed, a sink and an electric toilet. It appears that the whole room is a one piece unit that was dropped in after the tank was installed.Does anyone have any experience replacing this tank which is leaking. It appears that some part of the tank is under the bed and toilet area and I'm not sure how much needs to be cut out to remove and replace and how to reinstall cut out sections so it will look like new. Tiara in Holland, Mi. and local Tiara dealer in Ohio have been no help. Would be grateful for any feedback. Thanks.
I can only suggest that you would start by drilling some holes in inconspicuous places and inserting a fiber optic line to survey the area. Then layout your cut lines with tape, set your circular saw depth and hope. Maybe screw a support block to the deck after you make each cut to prevent the floor from dropping down.
Give yourself plenty of clearance, better to cut out one large section than lots of small sections. Good luck. Post your results. Capt. George
Thanks for the comments Capt. George. Pardon the delay, I was out of commission for the past couple of weeks. I like the idea of the pilot holes. I don't think there's any danger of the floor dropping as it sits within a few inches of the top of the tank. Will post as to how it goes. Thanks again.

Thanks for your inquiry. I'm in the middle of having tank replaced now....actually installing a new tank and abandoning the old one. Found a spot right next to old one to put replacement. My only concern is that original tank is right on centerline of boat and new one will be just to starboard of center. The shop doing the job assures me that it won't put to much weight on starboard side to cause boat to list that way. I will report back after job is complete and boat is splashed.

Have the same boat only a ‘97. Had the same problem. Did you solve your problem. Had the yard seal off the old tank which was 57 gals. and replaced with a 41 gal tank and installed under the aft bed. Be happy to help in case you haven’t solved. Tiara and local dealer treated me like I had a disease. Jack
Not directly related to tank replacement, but rather avoiding it.
I have an 2002 40 express which I bought used 8 years ago. I had an "oil canning" sound coming from the waste tank when I would pump out. Having read about folks having to replace that tanks, I figured this was a contributing factor. I figured the waste volume was exiting faster that the air volume can get in. I did two things to resolve this, I religiously change the vent filter, so it imposes the least restriction. I also rigged a tee between the vent filter and the tank. On the bottom leg of the tee I ran a garden type hose to a full port quarter turn hose shut off which is zip tied to the engine room ladder. Before I pump out I open the shut off so the tank has another source of air to displace the waste being removed. So far, no oil canning during pump out.
I hope this helps to avoid the hassle you folks have gone through.

The oil canning was the exact reason my tank started to leak. Absolutely agree the vent not being changed is the cause. Also, question wisdom of Tiara using aluminum for the holding tank and the acidity of urine. When I called Tiara they acted like this was first they heard of this problem. Jack

Interesting. My surveyor called out the aluminum holding tank as being problematic, and now it makes sense to me. I like the idea of a bigger breather/vent. I wonder if consistently using digestive enzymes helps with the acidity issue?
In order to keep the environment clean and sanitary, a waste holding tank needs to be replaced. It guarantees appropriate disposal of trash, maintaining safety and hygienic requirements. Replacing it on time ensures effective operation and reduces the possibility of leaks or overflow. Making this maintenance activity a priority encourages a hygienic and safe atmosphere for all.
