I have a 03 Coronet and Im looking into adding a auto pilot. I currrently have a Lowrance Gen 11 touch. Any pros or cons on specific units and there performance. I want to use at low speeds for trolling and I would like a remote control. Appreciate any information you can provide.

You need a good tech to install an autopilot, especially if you interface it with your GPS. The compass location is critical. Have a quick magnetic survey done and try to locate it down low and back aft away from the engines and any magnetic source such as a speaker. Also have a main power disconnect switch installed next to the display so you can quickly shut the AP down in the event of a failure. Mount the AP motor in a dry location away from the compass. Furuno would be my first choice, it's a high quality unit with lots of trolling pattern features. Do all the dockside checks before getting underway.  Capt. George

I have a SIMRAD AP-22 autopilot interfaced to a Northstar 6000i GPS/Chart plotter and to a Furuno Nav Net GPS/Chart plotter as a backup. The rate compass is SIMRAD and I'm quite pleased with the systems overall performance. Use the autopilot quite a bit especially when in fog. Great way to maintain a heading when in fog allowing me to focus on the radar and outside environment. Also use it quite a bit when trolling and very effective maintaining a course over long distances at cruise speed. M2C

I like the Garmin smart pump with the new GHP Reactor, easy to interface if you have Garmin displays. This is a new generation of electronics with very fast coarse correction. I do thin Raymarine calls there next generation Evolution. These new control systems are game changers.
