Brand new batteries are dead with shore power on.

2004 Tiara 2900 Coronet 8.1 motor
We are having dead battery issues with our Tiara.   We have replaced the batteries 3 times without luck.  They last about 2 weeks, even though we plug into shore power.  Can anyone tell me if they have any ideas on what to check?  Land shore power works with pigtail conversion.  Chargers have lights on which told the mechanic it is receiving power.  The mechanic is not fully aware of the Tiara and where all the mechanics are located and asked me if there was a location for the A/C? He said DC switches are under the steps right? Where is the A/C or is it all DC?

I read on another generic boat forum, that maybe replacing the chargers would be a logical solution. Any advise you have or if you experienced similar frustration please let me know.  We just purchased it within the last 6 mos....so very sad that we are dealing with this.  WE used a surveyor and thought we did everything right.

Sounds very confusing but I would dis-connect all charging sources including shore power/chargers and hook up an amp meter to the batteries see if there is a parasitic drag on the batteries.. If there isn't any thenI would connect one at a time and repeat the test.. M2C

Sorry to hear about the problems your having. A friend of mine has a Coronet and I pinged him to inquire about the AC panel...but I do have a couple of questions.

When you say pigtail on your shore power cord, what exactly do you mean? You should have a single 30 amp connection, so I'm not sure why a pigtail is needed?

Under your steps to the right should be your charger. It has a meter on it. What does it read?

To the left of that charger on the back wall there should be three large battery switches. What position are they in?

What's concerning is all three are dying. I believe you have three batteries. One for each motor and one for the house. Not sure what could be killing all three.

My friends 2900 is a 1998. He said his AC and DC breakers are both under the steps along with the selector switch's.

If you have a digital volt meter you can start by checking voltage at each battery bank. If charger is working properly you should see somewhere around 13.5v - 13.8v with charger on. If you don't see that check the breakers and fuses on charger if so equipped.

Seems odd that both banks are being drawn down. If you have a battery interconnect switch make sure it is off/open to help isolate and locate the source. From there as misdirection stated putting a D.C. Amp meter in line and shutting off circuit breakers should help find the problem.

Follow the advice in the above message.
Then I would check if the battery switches are in the BOTH position. That would account for both going dead if you have a constant draw.
Another source of a constant draw is a bilge pump switch stuck on.
