probably going to Hell for this, but where is the switch to the pump out?
#1
I know I know, but we do not have a pump out over here for 50 miles, so we have to pump out!! I found the sea cock valve and cut the wire holding it closed. Lightning did not strike, thank God!. I turned the breaker on under the steps, I followed the electrical diagram, and found a relay wire unplugged, so I plugged that up. In the wiring diagram, it notes (I believe) a switch. I cant find that switch to activate the pump. Does anyone know where it is?? Could my tank be too empty to pump? Is there another something somewhere I have to hook up??

which DC panel? I looked at the one under the steps, I looked at the one on the helm, and there isnt any other switch. I think there is another switch (and the wiring diagram shows one as well) someplace, but I am not sure. I have think it is in the switch for the raw water pump back my the stern.

In the cabin you do not have two switch panels, one side for 110v (AC) and the other side for 12v (DC) ?

yes I do, but on the electrical diagram they show that panel and another switch somewhere, I believe. I believe that those dc and ac panels are breakers and not the controlling switch. Perhaps I am wrong in this situation. I did turn that switch and as of now, nothing happened. thanks for the imput.

I have seen some other brand boats with a key switch that needs to be ON to operate the pump out macerator. That prevents an accidental discharge. I would look for a key switch. Capt. George

There is another switch as you mentioned on the wiring diagram....It;s located on the through-the-hull valve for the overboard pump-out....The purpose is to ensure you have the valve open when you turn on the macerator/overboard pump......At least that's the way my 38 open is wired.... BTW I had that switch fail which prevented the pump-out from working.. replaced the switch and all working AOK

thanks I see that that on the valve, and I assume it is activated when I open that valve, but other than what is on the dc switch panel, is there something else I have to press to activate the pump?? is there a cross over or Y valve back on the holding tank that needs to be moved?? I swear I am missing a step. Thanks in advance. pete

On my 42, First you open the seacock in the aft bilge.
Second, turn the y valve which is located under the cabin floor just forward of the holding tank, make sure the arrows are pointing to the hose going to the bottom of the tank, and the other pointing to the hose going to the over board discharge pump. This pump is located on the port side of the engine room just under the big air vents in the hull. then hit the switch on the DC panel, you should then start to see bubbles come up from the underside of the boat, on my aft port corner.

thanks a ton!! I do not believe I had the y valve turned!! They showed me a pump in the main cabin, right next to vacum pump for the head. I will look at my configuration again, making sense now!!!!
