In the Market Q: How does the 270 Continental handle in rough seas/beam seas/drifting
#1
Hello - currently in the market, hoping to get some help - not too many Tiaras on West Coast. Unfortunately, our current mooring on Catalina Island where we live only allows up to 27 foot and no larger spots available. Hubby is 6'4, and we need the extra room for our daughter, so looks like an older 26 foot Continental will be the choice - Opens don't have the extra berth, which is sad for the price one pays. Looking at Grady White also because of the extra berth, but my heart is set on Tiara for multiple reasons. Anyone have experience with the 27 footers handling in rough seas, getting blown around in winds that pick up in the afternoon, etc? We like to drift fish along the shore and need to spend the night - so we all have to fit! I read David Pascoe's review which said an 18" choppy sea was a choppy ride. Our current boat rocks relentlessly while drift fishing when the winds kick up and swell is over 3 feet. Looking for something that will return to wind quickly, and not rock and roll so much. Understand smaller boats with the narrow beam do that anyway, but hoping for some good, bad and ugly reviews from Tiara owners. ALSO - any big guys out there that want to comment on the comfort of the V berth in a 27, that would be great. Thank you. Really hoping to be posting next time as a new owner!
