Our transmission needs to be rebuild and they are saying they need to cut a larger hold in the helm area.   Is there another way of getting the transmission out?

Will it clear the aft access hatch? I’ve seen a yard use an airbag with rails set under the gear then once moved back off the flywheel inflated high enough to slide the gear over the stringer and allow a forklift to yank it out through the aft hatch. If the gear is too wide then the only other option I know of is to pull the floor hatch above the engines. It’s a lot of work to disconnect plumbing, electrical, seats etc. but at least you aren’t cutting the thing up and then trying to repair it and match gel coat / non skid.
