I have a 2003 38 Open and have no controls that allow me to change the brghtness or contrast... The gauge backlights are only on/off and controlled by a switch on the panel labeled "panel lights"

Thanks for the reply. If I push the last,number 5 button, I can toggle between brightness and contrast but the progress bar stays full on, and no change in either. I will try the panel light switch, maybe that  all I get is a backlight, thanks.

I think I was wrong as it appears you have digial displays for the engines. Mine are analog so I only have on/off capibility..

You have CE motors as I do, I can remember ever being able to change the brightness.

Hi, yes 480HP CE's , that is possible, maybe someone else with same engines and gauges will confirm. The contrast bar will fade out the screen but no backlight,even when panel lights are on. New boat to me, I will check with the ex owner and see if they were ever backlit. I haven't sent them off for repair. Thanks
