Crusader 7.1 oil cooler
#1
i have a water leak showing up at the brass fitting on the hose on the bottom of the oil cooler. Mechanic tightened it and cleaned it up several months ago but it is still leaking. I have been watching it closely and now, my mechanic suggests that we change it out for a new oil cooler. He advises that we do not know what is going on inside part.
Looking for feedback:
- Should I replace the cooler now, rather than later (I run the boat year round here in CA)?
- Replacement with original Crusader part or, is there a good substitute that is not as expensive?
- Mechanic labor rate is $85.00/ hour, so what should I expect this to cost, both parts and labor?

As always, thank you for the valuable input from other Tiara owners!

The last thing you want is water getting mixed in with your oil. That will surely take out some bearings. If you find a used one have it pressure tested for leaks or put in a new one, labor is the same. Why wait? Check on-line for what's available. And don't forget to change your zincs.   Capt. George

I would do it now with a new one....... No sense taking a risk with a used part. M2C
